Instagram sets age requirement.



After 10 years in operation social media platform Instagram has made it’s first stride in requiring persons signing up for their service to provide their age in an effort to protect
child users and assist with regards to placing advertisement for the 
correct age groups across the platform.



"Asking for this information will help prevent underage people from joining Instagram, help us keep young people safer and enable more age-appropriate experiences overall," Instagram wrote in a blog post.

Going forward, Instagram the third largets social media platform behind facebook and whats app will ask new users to enter their date of birth. The app will not allow the user to proceed further if their age is below 13. However, since it does not require any proof of birth, new users younger than 13 might use a fake date of birth to get inside the world of Instagram.
